A STUDY IN RED AND RITUAL🍒

When I started my Perfect Days series, I kept wondering: who are the people who will share my love for cinema through photography? Then, this story began to unfold. When I learned about their shared obsession with the worlds of David Lynch and Guillermo del Toro, I knew this was my "cherry-on-top" project of the year.

The challenge was weaving it all together. The answer was a single thread: Red.

The day began with the cold, spiritual blues of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. I’ve always been mesmerized by Gothic architecture—from my art history professor’s slides to the first time I stood in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. On this warm October morning, that same feeling returned. The groom stood at the altar, lifting his face toward the kaleidoscopic light of the rose window. Leah stands at the back, a ribbon of sunlight pouring through the open doors and resting on her shoulders. One last touch of lipstick. Her mother’s hands holding her softly.

As an observer, I moved through the day looking for the "fleeting moment"—the touch, the lean, the breath. After a quiet lunch with family, we headed toward Brooklyn as the blue hour settled over the city. The lights began to reflect a new page of their lives, one filled with silly dances and the quiet realization that it had all finally happened.

Then came the shift to the Love’s Club. The atmosphere transformed into deep greens and burning reds—a space where emotion, desire, and honesty fully unfolded. It felt like a Twin Peaks moment; a powerful transition from sacred ritual to a night where truth exists freely. My heart was pumping from the contrast—from the silent arches of the morning to the confetti and loud music of the night.

This story is about human love, passion, and the beautiful, cinematic routine of a life shared.
